Hi

I have a brand new mac and chose not to restore from my time machine backup. However I want to keep that backup but continue to use that hard drive as my time machine. How can I do this?

It has the folder in it named "Josh Kahanes Macbook Pro" but now I want to keep that folder but have a new time machine of my new mac. Help!

Thanks.

AFAIK if you just plug the HD in, TM will ask if you want to use it for TM, you click "yes" and thats it, backups will be stored under the name of the new machine.

Also just to be on the safe side, make sure your new Mac is NOT called "Josh Kahanes Macbook Pro"

And even if it is, it'll create another directory so it doesn't conflict. I'm not sure of the criteria it uses to determine if it's the same machine, but I just went through this a few days ago myself.
