I just got a new iMac 5k and would like to know What I need to do with my current Mac. Do I neee to unauthorized my old Mac? I want to slowly migrate my information and applications when needed. In regards to apps, I purchased some directly from developers so do I need to re-download the apps and register them?Any tips and advice?

Thanks everyone this forum is so helpful

You can connect your two Macs together and use Migration Assistance to move the user and all other apps and docs from the old to the new one.

I have a time machine drive. Can I connect that to my new Mac and use that to migrate my apps info and settings or does it need to be with my older Mac. I just don't want to deal with registering all my apps and Aperture settings/albums and iTunes playlist/metadata.
