I just got a new 15" mac book pro basic,

Anything I should watch for as well this will be my travel computer and I may be looking at adding SSD drive to it

keep it safe; look into getting a shell case or good bag for it if you're going to be moving around with it a lot.

OK just did a geegbench on it and I got 9621 on battery and 9632 plugged in I'm happy with that score.

My MP is running at 15005 and my iMAC 11749

This is just perfect

Will the SSD be beneficial for starting and what would be reccomended as well dos and don'ts when changing out drive and what drive to use?

The momentus xt is an inexpensive alternative to ssd if you are looking for app launch speed.
