New Mac help!

I just received my 13" macbook pro 2.66ghz 8 gigs ram 500 gig hard drive. i used migration assistant to transfer all of my data from my old macbook, everything transferred perfectly, all my pics and all, but when i go to open my itunes, it gives me an error message saying "the file iTunes Library cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."

Im running the software updates right now but there is no update for iTunes, what is the problem? do i have to update my software and all will be fine?

Yes - update to the latest version of iTunes and everything should work.

But under my software update there's no new iTunes update!?

Check the current version of you iTunes. Delete iTunes completely and install the latest directly from Apple.

My current version is 9.0.1 or something and the newest one is 9.2.1, downloading it not but didn't delete the old one, I think it replaces it

This is a good idea. My brother had this issue when he migrated from a 2006 MacBook to a 2010 MacBook Pro. He called Apple, and they walked him through the steps. He had to delete everything regarding itunes on his MBP, and reinstall iTunes. Everything is good, now.
