New Mac; iPhoto Not Recognising JPGs

Hi, i've just recieved my first ever mac, a macbook 1.83ghz. I've imported all my files over from my old PC including my Pictures. But when I try to import them into iPhoto they are not recognised and are deemed 'unreadable', any help? Thanks!

How are you truing to import them? Are you simply dragging them into an open iPhoto window?

I know some PC's don't need file extensions on files to open them, so my off the wall guess might be make sure the photo files have .jpg on the end?...

Thanks for the help! It was the fact that when I imported my photo album from my old PC that I put it into the iPhoto library straight away, but now it's sorted, thanks!
