New Mac Mini... No SL

I bought a new mac mini for my GF today at the education store on my campus. I was thinking that SL would be either installed or free as it came out today but they told me I had to pay $10 and I could pick it up Tuesday even though they had some in stock today to sell. This really doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I understand that the inventory they have in stock would probably not have SL installed but shouldn't it come free of charge if I buy the Mini after the release of the new OS? $10 isn't a huge deal and I've already purchased a copy for the MBP I bought last week but I feel the latest OS should be included in the price of the machine if I buy it after the release date. Just venting.

just use the disc you already bought for your mbp is what i would do
