I'm starting a new thread for this because I don't think it has been brought up. The eMac and the fact that its a CRT, might be a little dated. This new Mac might just be nothing more than a headless eMac, and might carry the eMac name. Think about it. The eMac is $799 at the low end. Take out the CRT you save about $100 (including the plastic and case design material). That gives us $699. Due to price drops and everything that has happen to the iBooks and PBs, it could make it at $599. Which I think is where this new Mac will start at, not the rumored $499.

What does everyone think of that idea?

I get what your saying but remember that this Mac's main purpose was for Education, Apple made it an All-In-One design to make it easier to use and to reduce unneeded clutter (An external Monitor etc)

Apart from that they may be using that idea, just it might not be under the name eMac
