I have a stock 2.8 8-Core Mac Pro. At least once a day, the computer totally freezes. The only thing that remains is the mouse pointer, which I can move around, but nothing is clickable. The hard drive stops doing anything, and the computer has to be hard-rebooted.

Anyone else experiencing this?

im assuming you don't have any 3rd party ram. Either way open System Profiler and click on 'Memory' and see what the status is to see if there are any errors.

Whatever the outcome you will almost certainly have to call up Apple Support, as this definitely sounds like a serious hardware issue unless you are also using your MP to house small pets, then i recommend removing said pets :D
