Just want to say hello to everyone and I'm glad to be part of this forum.

I am making a decision soon to get a Mac Pro either 2.8, 3.0 or 3.2 GHZ 8 core Processor. I have to assume its basically two Quads.

My question is which intel Processor models are they? There are two versions of the 3.0 GHZ and I don't know which one it is.

Apple Tech support said it was the 120 watt. Another newsgroup said it was 80 watt version as the 2.8 GHZ is.

Here is what I found on Intel site and wondering if someone can tell me if which models are in the Mac Pro?

E5462 2.0 GHZ 80 Watt
E5472 3.0 GHZ 80 Watt
X5472 3.0 GHZ 120 Watt
X5482 3.2 GHZ 150 Watt

THere seems to be only one version of the 2.8 and 3.0 GHZ. There are two versions of the 3.0 GHZ. All running at 1600 MHZ Front side bus.

I am also assuming the X in the model number refers to extreme like the QX Quads.

Thanks for reading and trying to answer this post.

In another thread someone posted that his 3.0GHZ Box has X Processors.
