I was thinking that every time I have purchased a new Mac I tend to go through a sort of ritual when I get it through my front door.

First I place the new Mac in the living room and rush off upstairs to my bedroom. I look around for a suitable spot to start unpacking. This usually ends up with an entire clean up of my room, and on one extreme occasion a total refit (i know...lol).

Then I go around the house turn off all the phones and make sure I wont be disturbed when I'm doing the precious "unpacking". I also turn off any TV that's on or any music that's playing. Something about the sounds of a new Mac unboxing you dont want to taint with Xfactor background music (if you can call it music that is...)

Once I'm sure everything is set Ill go fetch the Mac (making sure to take my time lifting it up the stairs). Once its in my pristine, Zen Bhuddist style room laying there ready to be unraveled, I can rest easy knowing I did my best to help my new mac "fit" in.

<3:apple:

I always huff the smell from any kind of new Apple product I get. That is about as ritualistic as I get. Too bad the iPhone 4 didn't really have that "Apple" smell to it like the Magic Mouse had. That smell is like crack for me.

Hehe I know what you mean. I remem the first Mac I unboxed was a G3 iBook years ago and the smell made me think it must of been made in some kind of special lab...

Are you clothed or naked?

Naaaa, but I'll bet he wears a bra on his head :p

Reminds me of Grade 3 ... smelling those scented markers: Purple = Grape, Green = Watermelon, Black = Liquorice, Red = Cherry, Pink = Bubble Gum (I think). No I NEVER did, but I recall someone trying to lick the markers to see if hey tasted good = puked lol.

LOL. You've just invented a new kink: the Mac fetish.
Seriously I can relate, although my excitation when I get new Apple devices don't go that far. But I definitely experience "passionate" moments.

With my MB, I just swept everything that was already on my desk onto the floor. That was it. This is crazy :D

Yea .... the unboxing is really cool. The number of unboxing videos on the web (for Apple and other products) indicate that your not alone!

Cheers.

That's just not right. You should seek some help, we are talking about a computer from a multibillion dollar corporation, not the second coming of the Messiah.

Are you trying to tell us that you will celebrate the second coming of the Messiah by masturbating furiously?

Unbox a couple hundred in a week and you will certainly feel different about the whole ritual thing.

Think of all the kittens that God would have killed because of you... I'm looking at you chrmjenkins (but not while masturbating). ;)

I get excited about unboxing any shiny new gadget I get. Unless it's something small, like a new mouse or webcam. Although I did look forward to unboxing my last mouse; the Microsoft Sidewinder X8, the exception to the rule I guess. But yea, loved unboxing my laptop, Xbox 360, new shiny TV.
