Hey guys, I am getting a new MBP and I am not a new Mac user, but I am new to using the migration utility. It is correct that one can transfer apps with the new utility, correct. If these apps have a registration code do I need to say deactivate my old computer or something before transferring them ( I am talking of the likes of FCE, Macromedia Studio MX, PS elements, etc)? Is there anything (hardware or software related) that I should do to my new MBP before doing the migration?

thanks for your time

It doesn't really matter when you unregister one computer, as long as it is done before registering on a new computer. So you can migrate and then do the unregister/register process then.

The migration is pretty sweet I find. The only issue I had with it is that it doesn't allow you to give a new Shortname to your home folder, and so you'll be stuck with whatever you have on your old machine. Though this can be remedied using a prog called ChangeShortName, which is very easy to use.
