new macbook 13 inch lags up and freezes when i try to change screensaver

headline pretty much says it all... i just get the beach ball and everything freezes up and i have to force quit system preferences.... any ideas how to fix this? i dont get how my macbook can handle half life 2 and the sims 3 but it freezes trying to change the screen saver

this happened to me once.

what OS are you running? if they are custom screensavers that you downloaded they may not be compatible with whatever version of OS X your running.

i dont have any custom ones and im runnning the current version of leopard.... MAKES NO SENSE

try resetting your PRAM

that helped.... not as laggy anymore, i guess i can live with it thanks though
