Is it true that the new Macbooks, which have been revealed yesterday, won't be capable of memory upgrades i.e. if I was to chose the standard 2gb memory, I won't be able to upgrade it a year down the line or so?

The owner's manual provides the instructions on how to install a new hard drive and RAM. I suggest that you should have read it first.

I didn't know it would be mentioned there, I didn't know it existed. Plus, isn't this the whole point of the Mac community and them being good at help.

No, that is 100% false.

Thank you, appreciated. :D
