So I finally pulled the trigger and got the MacBook 2016 m5 space gray. Fully charged it and allowed my photos app to finish doing all its syncing on power to eliminate blame on that.

I just charged it to 100% and used it for a bit with a couple of youtube videos, then editing some slides on google slides for a presentation and researching a couple of articles at the same time. Nothing too intensive I believe. I went from 100% to 76% in approximately 2 hours (it wasn't continuous).

Is this normal battery drain? Or am I expecting too much from this guy?

That sounds about right.
