Somewhere in the Universe
Been using iMacs so long but bought an Macbook Air yesterday but its been so long since I have bought a new laptop, I need to refresh my memory as to the proper handling of its battery.

1) Can I leave it plugged in the majority of the time or will that be detrimental to the battery health?

2) Is there an app I should install that monitors the battery and will advise me about any upkeep?

Anything else that I might need to know, please discuss here.

Run on battery whenever you need to, and plug it in whenever you can. There are no special rules for handling Mac batteries anymore. macOS manages your battery quite well, without needing 3rd party apps.
