anyway to stop this. I already have sleep drive turned off. It sounds like the read write heads bumping about every 5-10 secs. and is very bothersome. My MBP never does this. I searched and didn't find anything on this here. Any help greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad hard drive to me. No hard drive should be doing that, especially not new ones. Usually when they start clicking, it's almost time for them to die. Take/send it in.

I'm pretty sure the hard drive is failing. Open Disk Utility and check the S.M.A.R.T. status. There's no guarantee that it's OK even if it says "verified."

Apple should replace the drive on the spot.

I did an Onyx test and Disk utility and they both say fine. It's very faint to most but I hear very well...maybe too well it seems. The Apple Authorized reseller I bought it from said they can't hear it. The nearest Apple store is 1.5 hours away, looks like I may have to make the drive because I can't stand listening to it since I work in a very quiet atmosphere.
