hey guys just got a new black macbook last night...its by far the best computer ive ever had and just couldnt wait for the update lol...my questions are:
-should i shut down or sleep my macbook at night...
-my macbook is suppose to be 250gb but it says 215gb free space is there really 35gb of installed stuff at the beginning?

thanks...

1. You will get differing opinions on this. I shut my down once a week. No particular reason. You can just let it sleep and never shut it down though. It will be alright.

2. Yes which is far less than a PC would.

1. I'd just close the lid at night, putting it to sleep. There's no harm in this.

2. Not 35gb, because a 250gb drive doesn't really have 250gb on it. But yes, there are things pre installed that are taking up space. Probably a big part is within garage band.

I shut my down very rarely. macs are really good at sleeping :)

as far as space, OS takes up space plus 250GB is unformatted space. there is overhead involved which trims it down a bit.

I do shut down my mac every night not any peculiar reason just because that!!!:p
