I bought a new MBA on clearance and found out that it has ilife 08 installed. The iLife up-to-date program has expired. Is there any other way to upgrade for less than $79?

It just seems unfair that you can upgrade a whole operating system for only $29 but have to pay full retail price for iLife 09.

Call Apple and see what they'll do. It's possible that they'll help you out. Then again, if you bought it clearance (incidentally, was that from Apple or a reseller?), you may have to just deal with that if it's what was advertised.

If you bought direct from Apple (either the web store or a physical Apple Store) they may be able to upgrade you (I can't say for certain, but it's a possibility). If you bought from a reseller, you're probably out of luck.
