Hi, I just ordered a new macbook on tuesday, I ordered the base model but the apple store indicated that this would ship with a Double Layer Superdrive.

I just phoned apple as my order shows a combo drive instead.

It defo showed a Superdrive or I would have ordered the next model up.

Did any one else experience this?

Thanks

Mark

The base model only comes with a combo drive.

I'm not sure how it is in the UK, but in the US, they'll happily take more money and upgrade you to the next model if you call and explain that you didn't realize the difference.

Certainly a bit strange that it showed a Super Drive as the base version has always had a Combo drive. I'm guessing you didn't do too much research into each of the models though to find out which one to buy?

What did Apple say when you called them? Any chance you can do what xfiftyfour suggests and pay the difference for the next model up?

I did my research alright. I don't need the Superdrive as I have an iMac at home.

I thought i'd just been lucky and got the superdrive for free!!

:)

If you send them the screenshot they might do it for you, since it does say it right there and that's what you "thought" you were getting.

I was able to do something similar to get Tiger and iLife '06 last year for my refurb iMac last summer. It had said on the refurb page that it would come with both, and when it came to me it had Panther and iLife '05, so I called, and sent them the screenshot I had taken (very glad I thought to do that) and they sent me discs for Tiger and iLife '06.

You said in your first post that you would have ordered the next model up if you'd realised though?
