New macbook pro 13 vs asus ul30vt

Hi guys,

I need your help, what is in your opinion the best computer and why, the usage of the computer will be for university and some browsing, maybe photo editing. The price of the mac is 1149 euros and the ul30vt 710 euros.
what should I buy ?

If you have a particular piece of Mac only software you want to use, then get the Mac, otherwise you're likely better off with the PC.

Link the ASUS so we can see the specs.... Impossible to say as it can be anything from Celeron to i7

Do you want to use Mac OS X or Windows?

Because the hardware of the Asus UL... (this is the link to the Asus site for that PC the OP mentioned, if anyone even cares) is not that great, it has a much slower CPU, but may suffice your needs anyway.

So again, it comes down to Mac OS X or Windows.

ul30vt is a culv 'consumer ultra low voltage' pc. It's a step up from an atom-based netbook...

It's true that they dont have to be a 'brainwashed fanboys' but you know exactly what I mean. If you make a poll right now 1.mbp 2.asus how many clicks do you think the asus will get?

Sometimes these reminders are annoying and not helpful.

Anyway, I used to work as an Asus Repair technician...and now own 3 macs. The build quality is just better, but if you are looking to game or do something specific to windows, ASUS is a quality brand to turn to.

I just don't get this WHY do people come here (MAC FORUM) to have other people help them decide between a Mac and a Windows PC

I came to this forum for one reason....... !

I am a long time Windows user and I am so feed up with the crap MS tries to feed everyone about one version of Windows being better than the last..... Windows 7 is a huge improvement BUT once I got my Mac I will never go back......unless forced.

Sorry for the rant but I just don't get it!

I agree, especially as they are so HUGE! Smaller size would be better IMO

MBP all the way, the ASUS doesn't look that good

i think it is an unfair comparison. that asus really isn't that good imho.
I am in nearly the same boat but rahter comparing it to th u30jc instead.

costs around 900-1000 but with a core i5/i7

still havent made up my mind on which one to choose. maybe i will be in doubt long enough for the MBP13_2011....
