Hi guys,

I just picked up a 3rd exchange for a 2018 Macbook Pro - The first 3 were plagued with coil whine, display color non-uniformity, and speaker issues. This one doesn't have any of the previous problems, but I feel like the trackpad sounds louder than the previous laptops and a "click" makes the trackpad feel likes it's vibrating rather than an accurate click.

I've recorded the sound it makes, since I'm not sure if that's a normal sound and was wondering if anyone can give me their thoughts on whether their trackpad sounds anything similar to this. If not, I may be looking at yet another exchange *sigh*.

Have you noticed that when your MacBook Pro is turned off, the trackpad makes no click noise. There is no mechanical click button, and it is totally a created sound in software.
The "vibration" is likely the haptic feedback through the force-touch feature
You can turn off that click, if that will help you...

However, before you turn the sound off on that click, try adjusting the click setting, ranging from light to firm. Adjusting that setting may even result in the trackpad click more to your satisfaction.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am actually already on the "light" option for the force trackpad, and I noticed that the sound loudness of a click doesn't change too much when I switch to medium or firm. Secondly, I believe the silent clicking option was removed on 2016+ Macbooks, which is unfortunate since that was one of my favorite features.

I guess it would be great if someone can upload a recording of their trackpad click sound to compare it with the sound clip I posted above. I know when I compared it to my 2015 Macbook Pro (w/ silent clicking off), the new macbook's trackpad felt a lot more hollow and the sound was way more of a vibration sound than a click sound.

Sound perfectly normal, my 2018 MacBook Pro sounds very similar to that.
