new macbook pro battery life low

so i just got my first macbook pro today. 15inch i7. and well after waitin for it to charge fully. i noticed that the battery time remaining was 2 hrs after i took off the charger. since this is my first time on a mac. i thot it was supposed to be 8-10 hrs or something? is this normal?

As it's new you probably want to perform a battery calibration, instructions can be found on apple's website.
