I currently have a 21" iMac, and I just ordered the new MacBook Pro for school. I have several screennames (logins) on my iMac and also have it backed up through time machine on an external hard drive.

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to basically make the MacBook Pro a clone of my iMac? Basically loading all my data, settings, usernames, etc. Through the time machine backup?

Thanks!

Jim

Yes. When setting the MBP up, it will ask you if you like to transfer data from another Mac or TM backup. Just select yes and what you want to transfer.

Excellent. Does that include transferring multiple user names and all settings, bookmarks, etc?

Yes, if you choose so.

Perfect! I have one other issue I have not been able to figure out. I have thousands of family pictures within iPhoto, on my login account. However, when my wife is on her account and opens iPhoto, she cannot see the pictures. Is there a way to make the library useable to her without duplicating each picture?
