I got a new 15' MBP yesterday, and everything is working great, except when I put it to sleep. My old late 2009 MBP would go to sleep instantly, but my new MBP is taking a few seconds to go to sleep. I don't have a printer installed yet, so its not a problem with the printer queue. Does anybody know a fix for this???

Thanks, but do I have to instal that??? I didn't have it for my old MBP, and it worked fine.

To use SmartSleep you need to install it and then it will be accessible via System Preferences.

As Mac OS X normally is set to copy the content of the RAM to the HDD/SSD when going to sleep, it will take a while for the MBP to go to sleep (depending on the size of the RAM). When I bought my first Intel MacBook I encountered this behaviour and use SmartSleep ever since. It was a free download once though.

You can accomplish the same via Terminal: http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html
