I've been waiting for the new Macbook pro design for several years now and I am hoping it's going to come out soon. Does anyone have any news on the next major release?

I remember hearing that it may be coming next year, but any information you get is a rumor until Apple officially announces it.
So far I've heard talk about a liquid metal exterior, keeping the unibody, taking out the optical drive, and using a taper like in the MBA models. But again, all rumors.

The precise info on the new MacBook Pros will be available when Apple announces it.

The rumors that are out there aren't really based on any inside information. They're all guesses based on what chipsets will be available in the near future and what kind of technology Apple has been investing in recently.
I think the only thing you can expect is that there will be a new Macbook Pro either in the winter or 1st Half 2012. If a new one comes out this winter, it will be a very minor refresh with slightly better processors and specs. If a new one comes out 1st half of 2012, there is a better chance that there will be a redesign.

Not until 2012 when Intel releases Ivy Bridge. There are only speed-bumps practical until then.
