Hi all

My current MBP has been updated to High Sierra and my latest time machine backup is based on this OS. I am expecting delivery of my new MBP, which will likely have Sierra installed.

Will I need to update the new MBP to High Sierra before restoring my backup or can I just restore without the need to update first?

Many thanks

M.

Do not restore your backup, instead use Migration Assistant to extract your stuff from your Time Machine backup.

Restoring a backup to different hardware can cause issues, despite it being unlikely. I would strongly advise against doing it with High Sierra since it's only just been released and is still buggy.

Thanks. To be fair, there’s not a lot to bring across as most of my stuff is in iCloud.
