We just received a new MBP 15" to set up here at work, and I noticed that the front edge (basically the palm rest edge) isn't sharp anymore. In fact, it's been rounded all the way around, just enough to make it more comfortable without damaging the look of the machine.

Way to go Apple for listening to us!

This change could be several months old; we haven't ordered a new machine in a while. But this is the first one I notice with the change.

Is it? This is my first MBP, but from borrowing other people's mbps I'm not sure if I notice it.

That's what I'm wondering; when did this change happen.

I set up another Macbook Pro last week and if it had the rounded edges I probably would have remembered. I only held it briefly though.

Can anyone confirm if this is a new change for the 2011 MBPs (Thunderbolt) or if there are some Thunderbolt-equipped MBP's with sharp edges still?

Or have they been like this for months and I never noticed?

i have an early 2011 model, sandy bridge, the edges are sharp on mine but then again this is my first mbp.

I have a new Thunderbolt MBP and the lower edge is quite sharp. Shortly after I got mine, I went back into the Apple store to see if all were this sharp. Most in there definitely were not, so it seems there's a difference in how some are fabricated.

It seems to be random, I have 2010's @ work that are not sharp, and 2011's that are.

I wouldn't describe the new corners as 'rounded', but the change is just subtle enough to make it much more comfortable. Visually there is no noticable difference.

My mid–2009 17" MBP had much sharper corners than my month–old 15" which makes it much more comfortable.

my 13inch macbook pro from 2010 had razor sharp edges

sold it got the 15inch 2011

edges are more rounded. u can kinda notice it, but defninately feel it

def nicer to use

doesnt matter though sicne i got an incase frost white hardshell on it

My 2011 15" has pretty sharp edges. After buying it, I noticed I always had red wrists. I ended up getting the Speck SeeThru case and that does a really good job covering the sharp edges with a more dull, smooth edge. It also greatly decreases the risk of getting dents and makes a (very) little bit safer against liquid damage.
