Looking to go for a macbook or mac book pro, but are the macbooks getting updated soon or should i buy one now?

If you're getting now or soon, get a MBP. Overall you're going to get better performance out of it than the upgraded MB. For 200 extra, the things you're getting with it are definitely worth it.
