Hey,

I was browsing Bestbuy's website, and I think I found proof that the next generation of new macbooks are coming. On the bestbuy website, 10 laptops are listed as running OS X Leopard, but only 7 are listed after clicking on that sort option. So maybe a release on the 14th may happen.

I attatched a screenshot of the webpage.

so you make a title with the word definately...and then use the words 'think' and 'maybe' in the thread

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

That's pretty neat. Good find. Now let's just hope it materializes.

Actually there are more than 10 laptops that run OS X Leopard.

Also if you read the front page, you would have seen that Best Buy created placeholder SKUs for the upcoming computers.

And yes new MacBooks are definitely coming (but we don't know when)

Not on that page. I just dropped by the page to check it out myself. Go to Best Buy.com, click on laptop. It has an option to filter by OS. It says there are 10 results for Mac OS X......except when you click it, the page it takes you to claims only 7 results (the same 7 stock notebook configs from Apple.com: 2.1Ghz MB, 2.4Ghz MB, Blackbook, 2.4Ghz MBP, 2.53Ghz MBp. 17" MBP, an the MBA). They may be nothing more than he guessing-placeholder-SKU's from last week, but there are definitely 3 hidden Macs on BB's site right now.

Just because someone on bestbuy thinks the new laptops are due soon isn't any confirmation of any rumor. I think if resellers knew, or knew anything but "they're coming in the next few weeks", it would've leaked almost immediately. Also, by looking at the "Narrow results" it's easy to notice those "unlisted" MacBooks are over $1800, one 17" and two 15", one over 5.5lbs and two under 5.5lbs, all have 2GB RAM and over 200GB hard drives. So, basically, it seems as if there were doubles for the MBPs in their database. Maybe these are placeholders, but again, I don't think bestbuy knows anything like specs or design. Also if they did, it'd mean no new MacBook or MacBook Air, and we don't know to believe this, right?

Most retailers put placeholder SKUs in anticipation of a new product. They probably won't know exactly when they're getting this product until a couple days before launch. In other words, they're expecting the products but don't know exactly when they'll get it.

The day after they release these new Macbooks i could make thread saying new Macbooks are definitely coming because they always are. Tell us when you know when, or have pictures. Something useful.

My friend works at the apple store as a specialist and even they don't know when its coming!!

Realistically only the buyers and purchasers for Best Buy that deal directly with Apple will know at this point. Other than that, there wouldn't be anyone in the E-Commerce(website)division at Best Buy who would know this.

BestBuy BS

Hi all... after years of checking out this site, I finally signed up... couldn't resist!

Anyways:
This BestBuy evidence means nothing. Some reasons have been explained (notably that BestBuy would never know until we know) but this one I like the best.

Why would they just add 3 OS X computers?
1. MacBook Pro?
2. MacBook?
3. Mac Pro?
4. Mac Mini?
5. iMac 20"?
6. iMac 24"?
7. Mac Air?
...
There are way more than just three OS X models that would be upgraded and since apple are not coming out with three NEW OS X models (i.e. tablets, etc.) the BestBuy "evidence" gives us nothing new... its like reading faces in clouds --- you make out of it what you want.

On a personal note, I am cheering NO upgrade for as long as possible, as I want to wait until the summer/June to buy a new laptop (MacBook Pro maxed out!) --- hopefully around Feb we will have the new laptops with significantly faster CPU and much better battery life - the rest (i.e. BluRay, 8 GB RAM, Hi-Def screen, glitter, etc...) is just icing on the aluminum cake!

Cheers and peace to all,

If there is a redesign or upgrade on the 14th, I wouldn't be too surprised to see a speed/spec boost in summer 09' if snow leopard does come out then.

Sounds like someone who just bought a new macbook?

I take it the Eee PC (or equivalent) is making you a bit antsy?

Kinda...I love my eee pc to death but my primary laptop not so much. I can't wait to replace that (my laptop overheats and runs hotter to the touch under stress than my friend's macbook pro--pentium 4s were never meant to be in laptops! )

And about these listings only being for what seem to be just 3 macbook pros, it is very possible that apple is going to stagger the releases of the macbooks and macbook pros as they have mostly done in the past, with the exception of the penryn update (i think...maybe it was santa rosa).

That eee pc is great for sitting on the coffee table for quick searches :).

I would agree that it is possible they stagger the releases (although I hope this doesn't happen). It seems that the more credible a rumor the more it focuses on the MBs rather than the MBPs :(. I am a little worried Oct. 14 will roll around with an event for the MBs and we will be left without info on the MBPs.
