New MacBooks-no firewire-still able to do BOOTABLE BACKUPS WITH CCC OR SUPER DUPER?

First, please do not tell me to use Time Machine. Answer my question instead...

I am under the impression that if one wants a BOOTABLE BACKUP on an external drive from a cloned drive using Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper, the drive had to be a firewire drive.

Anyone?

As has been noted above Intel Macs boot fine with USB- what you are referencing in PPC based Macs which, with a couple of exceptions right at the end of the PPC life, could only boot from FireWire drives.

thanks for he replies, everybody.

I feel better about the new non-firewired MacBooks.

I do have an external FW HD, will I be able to use this with the new MacBook if I acquire a usb to firewire adapter?

There is no such thing as a USB to FireWire adapter.

The new MacBooks will only support USB external drives.
