Wouldn't be beautiful to have a macOS Pro version for Pro users? with more customization options and tasks?

As macOS is getting more "new" features, Apple designers are limiting or removing old features I guess trying not to balance macOS so it is not getting more complex.

Some features are quite important for a day to day user basis and some are just annoying, as the new Settings where ou have to remember the position of the elements just in Y axis instead of X+Y.

Ventura is full of limitations that there wasn't before, and bugs...

An option to unlock "Advanced settings" to customize some UI settings would be awesome. Menu bar autohide is super slow, you can customize Dock speed, not menu bar though....

Finder is so limited, it is getting more complex, but for sure Apple is ditching many features they want to introduce, or you can do with the command line just in order to make life simpler for their users, which is great for the 80%, but there is a big chunk of users demanding MORE.

I'm not talking about messing around with Terminal or accessing to the guts of the OS, but in the Apple way "you can do what we want you to do" with a special version of the OS, unlocked from the restore partition or whatever you want, hard to access so no accidental activation.

This can bring the option even to hide more features this 80% dont even need, so macOS could be even more simpler in it's basic version.

It would be the perfect match to release date of the next Mac Pro...

can't you just build yourself some Epyc / 4090TI combo with Linux on it and you will have exactly that, or maybe even more "pro" than Apple could provide?

I was talking about a special version of the macOS, just like it existed the server version until 2 years ago. With different features.

It would be just one version with unlockable settings as developer tools in Safari i.e.

This could bring an even more simple macOS version for the famous 80% while having a more complex features hidden but unlockable for the other 20% who need more for their workflow.

They could call the regular version macOS Home 🤔

I remember a few years ago someone quipping that Apple would rename macOS to devOS, because the only reason they want you to be using it is to develop iPhone/iPad apps.

That is what Apple are doing - making macOS appear simple and restricted (more like iPadOS). At the same time you are reasonably free to do other things with macOS.

That rules out a macOSPro. :)

Yeah, at the end I can only see more troubles at the Apple’s dev side… and anyway, there would be always more stuff “advanced” users would want beyond those Apple could offer…

Anyway, messing with Terminal can be a very dangerous thing and no, you cant do anything with Terminal, as speed up the menubar show/hide is not possible (you can do that with the Dock…) or keep App Switcher in one monitor no matter which one has the menubar… customized icons for sidebar Finder’s windows… make font size larger…
