new macs

I've a got a 17" mbp 2.16GHz intel core duo. Can anybody give me the approx % speed bump I can expect to get if I get the rumored 2.86 GHz mbp?

That's very hard to know without knowing which apps you use, and without knowing much about the hypothetical product.

I'd reckon that for everyday stuff like iLife, Safari, Mail, etc, there would be no discernible difference. It's the higher end apps which would likely show off the power of the new chips better.
