New Mail.app Question

This may be unanswerable without a lot of details but here goes. I have noticed that some people don't have the little iMac and blue Glode icon in the Mail.app drawer and some do. When I start the program they appear and then leave in just a fraction of second. Anyone know anything about this issue.
