I've been trying to try out the new Maps App and it will show me a map at first and a few seconds later it just goes to a blank yellow screen displayed. If I switch to satellite view, it looks fine (I like the light/dark time display of the earth), but the regular map view craps out within a few seconds of starting it every time. Plus if I want to view my current location, it wants to turn WiFi on and that zonks my Internet connection with it on since I have it set up to use Gigabit Ethernet and even though that is at the top of the list, it tries to use WiFi instead and my router doesn't recognize the address it assigned for itself or something. All web sites just stop working, etc. I turn WiFi off and the Internet is back and fine, but once again, it can't find my location (which is ODD since Google Maps can find my location JUST FINE with Ethernet; I guess Apple fracked Maps up AGAIN. I think they should just give it up. They clearly CANNOT make a proper Maps program and obviously don't test this GARBAGE before releasing it.

Oh yeah and I hate the new "too white" transparency on the left side dock bar (no setting to change it to taste as per Apple usual); I guess that new Candy Man guy that designed iOS7's god awful interface got his mitts on a few things in Mavericks too....

I have the same issue with wifi and maps. I have my mac on Ethernet and cant use find my current location unless I turn on wifi which I don't want to.

Yeah, all apps using maps are currently broken for me after upgrading to Mavericks. Maps app shows the map for few seconds and then goes totally blank. Same for iPhoto and calendar events with location data. How can Apple release something this buggy?

I don't always have this issue, but taking Maps fullscreen makes it work (when the app stays full screen).

Similarly, in iTunes, I often don't see the scrubber and time played/remaining. When I make iTunes fullscreen, they magically show up.

It turned out that XtraFinder was the cause of the maps going blank on my late 2012 Mac Mini. It was not compatible with Mavericks (despite saying it was) at the time (not sure if it's been fixed yet). Once I removed that, the map app seemed to display correctly, although I find it weird that it can only tell my location when I have WiFi on. WTF does it need WiFi on instead of my Gigabit Ethernet (faster and more reliable)? Other mapping software can find my location without WiFi being enabled. It's absurd. The data is coming from the router/cable modem/ISP regardless. WiFI shouldn't be required for location data.
