This might seem a bit trivial but on all the ads for the MBA M4 the magsafe cables fully match the laptop colour. I have also watched a few opening videos just to be sure. I have today received my new MBA M4 in starlight and am a bit disappointed to find that the cable on the magsafe is white. like everyone I paid a lot for this and expected what is in all the advertisements!!! Am i being petty that this is really bugging me?

Yes, every MacBook Air comes with a colour-matched MagSafe charging cable. That looks like they packed a wrong colour cable at the factory. Just return it and order a new one or ask for replacement. Simple.

yeah the midnight has a black cable, silver/sky blue/starlight are all white cables. on all 4 colors, the USB-C connecting end is white (to match the white power adapter, in theory.. I wish they color matched this too though)

The braided cable itself doesn’t match the color of the laptop. Only the metal MagSafe connector itself does.

the picture you posted is from 2022. so not relevant.

however, regarding the new 2025 model, macrumors seems to indicate the the entire cable, not just the MagSafe end, matches the body color. the adapter end is white for all colours.

here is the starlight spare cable that can be bought separately in the apple store for M4, M3 and M2 models.

Just checked the cable from my "old" M3 Air: Agree it's whitish. So everything fine if the connector itself got the correct color.

So I also picked up my 15" MBA in starlight today and actually, as soon as I took it out the box I've been convinced its silver and not starlight, and now actually agree with OP that the cable is white with a silver MagSafe connector

I get that depending on lighting conditions it can look different but I've had it all over the house and really am struggling to see anything other than silver compared to videos and in the Apple Store

The only thing convincing me that it must be starlight is that it says 'STL' next to the model number on the box... assume this means starlight?

From what I can tell that is the only place it says what colour the MacBook is. Even the 'MacBook Air' writing and Apple logo on the box look silver to me

I've had several Starlight models (m2 and m4) and they don't look like silver to me. They look like a very modest gold, like the starlight described. I know lighting conditions matter, but it's never looked like silver to my eyes.

Agreed. I bought my wife the starlight M4 and it's pretty clear that it is not silver. I like to call it champagne if you will. Nice color if I am being honest, but certainly not silver.

Seriously? Does it really matter what color the cable is? So many more important things in the world to worry about than the color of your power cable. Plug it in, power up, and get to work on your shiny new Mac because by this time next year, it won't matter what color your power cable is.

A bit trivial 😱

If it bothers you I would go to the Apple Store and bring you laptop and cable. Check out the starlight models in the store and compare the cable you have with store models. If it is different then ask for a replacement from Apple and show them the difference. I am sure they would replace it free and you have the proof with you.

If it looks the same as the store models then it might be the lighting where you use your MacBook playing tricks on your eyes???
