Just opened my custom ordered 17" MBP a short time ago. So far, so good and couldn't be happier. Was on the fence deciding if my old pre-unibody would get me through till the next upgrade, but felt I needed the processing power and with APPLE CARE running out in a few months this is the first time I've optioned getting a new computer rather than retiring the old one to a back up (its going up for sale).
I'm seeing a big bump in speed with the i7 (compared to the 2.4GHz) and the screen is amazingly bright. Now I just have to decide about the upgrades I've been thinking about - SSD and/or new Seagate Momentus XT, 8GB RAM and if I should go with a large drive for data in the optical bay.
Happy as a 'clam' (shell).
