New MBP and external monitor support

I would like to know what size/resolution external monitor can the new MBP support and still use when gaming or doing graphics/3D design?

up to 1900x1200 u can buy the regular dvi adapter or the vga adapter ($30 each)
beyond that you need to buy the dual link dvi adapter ($100)

it allows you to output higher res than 1900x1200...basically if you have a 30" monitor. Otherwise get a regular dvi or vga one.

I read some reviews of the mini display port to DVI adaptor and it seems that you need to use a DVI-D cable instead of a DVI-I cable to use with the adaptor.

Are DVI-D cables as common as DVI-I cables?
