I am almost done with calibrating my battery for the new 17" MBP for the first time... Question is after I finish calibrating it, what is the best practice to use it everytime?

I am not going to be carrying it around and it sits at my desk at home almost all day (when I am at work). so I always have the option of plugging it in almost all the time even when I get home as I do all my stuff on the desk anyway.

*** What the best way to ensure the longest + healthy battery life (after 1st calibration is over):

1. Use mains to charge it to 100%. Then use battery until it goes to like 10% and then plug it in? and soon as the charge goes back to 100% use the battery... <loop>

== OR ==

2. Keep using mains even if battery is 100% and rarely use the battery...

what do you guys think??? Anyone in the same situation as me who doesnt carry their MBP around much??!

ciao

I'm not sure you read very carefully.

For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time. An ideal use would be a commuter who uses her MacBook Pro on the train, then plugs it in at the office to charge. This keeps the battery juices flowing. If on the other hand, you use a desktop computer at work, and save a notebook for infrequent travel, Apple recommends charging and discharging its battery at least once per month.
