Has anyone performed a hard drive upgrade on their new MacBook Pro? I was just wondering how much easier it is than the previous generation. I've searched through YouTube, but haven't found a video demonstrating the new procedure yet.

I just did the install yesterday. A million times easier than in the past. In fact, you can't really even compare it.

1) Lift the latch on the bottom of the computer
2) Pull the panel off
3) Use a #0 screw driver to remove a holding tab
4) Lift installed HD and disconnect SATA connector
5) Use a Torx T6 to remove mounting screws from previous installed HD
6) Reverse process with new HD
7) Done

The entire operation takes maybe 5 min max.

what drive

Hi all,

What drive did you replace it with?

I was looking at the new 7200RPM drives and didn't know what drive to buy.

Whats the current 5400RPM spec drive in them?

Do you need 8ms or 12ms or amount of cache ?

Thanks
