I've been a Mac user since 1984 and have never had a problem setting one up, but Apple Mail on our 2018 15" is making me crazy. We like to have our mail accounts set up for POP rather than IMAP. Using the same account settings we have on both our other computers, which are still on El Capitan, verification fails if I enter the POP servers addresses, but works just fine using the IMAP settings. If I click "Automatically manage connection setting", it automatically keeps switching to IMAP.
I called Apple tech support. Both the tech who answered the phone and the next level told me it must be something happening with our ISP, which seemed bizarre to me considering I have two computers that have no problems with the same settings, but I called the ISP who confirmed that they still support POP and would notify me if they ever decided to drop it.
Anyone have an idea of what might be going on here? Would this be better posted in the High Sierra forum?
Thanks!
