I just bought a new non retina mbp from amazon at a very good sal price. I gather apple (and its sellers) are blowing them out now. In any case, it won't arrive until Tuesday and the amazon listing didn't say which version of OS X was on it. Would it be the latest, yosemite, or mavericks. If the latter is it easy to update to Yosemite. I plan soon after getting it to put in an sad and 8 gb of ram.

New MBP mid-2012

It's very easy to update--one button update from App Store, but I'd suggest a clean install especially since it's new.

To do that, download (but don't run) the Yosemite installer from the App Store, look up on Google how to create a USB drive installer from it, then install from scratch using that.
