With the exciting new releases announced at :apple: WWDC yesterday, there are many choices available when considering buying a new macbook pro...

I have a dilemma and I'm sure many others face the same issue. I am tossing up over the new 15" Retina Macbook Pro (both base and high end models) and the upgraded 13" Macbook Pro (high end model). I am really drawn in by the new 15" retina MBP's graphics, performance, size and weight. And the reasoning for the high and base models of the Retina MBP, is that I like the larger storage of the high end model. I am concerned that the 15" Retina may be slightly too large for university purposes, taking into lectures and that kind of thing. Despite the only ~3cm size difference in width, is it inconveniently large?

The purpose of the MBP is to use as a university computer so portability is key running basic office programs, music and email. Basic programs will be used but additional video and photo editing as well as gaming will be usedon the new MBP (but with the emphasis on using it as a study computer and secondary as a video/photo and gaming machine). I have access to the Apple educational pricing and a further discount through the AUC (a university consortium here in Australia for further discount). In addition I am travelling overseas in less than a month and can claim a further 10% off through duty free GST tax rebate. That combines for about a 22-25% discount of the store listed price of each macbook which is handy.

With that in mind, which MBP should I look at purchasing?
Any advice you can provide would be excellent as I am looking to make a decision between the 13" and the 15" retina soon.
Cheers
