Hi :)

I've just bought a brand new mid-2012 MacBook Pro.

Spent the last two days putting all my stuff on it (Filled 350GB of 500GB HDD).

Been using it this evening and just finding it really slow! And it's also getting really really hot at the bottom.

Not sure whether I was just expecting too much when I bought it after switching from Windows or if there's something wrong :/

I have noticed though that in spotlight it says it's Indexing my MBP - could this cause the machine to run slow at the moment? And also become hot?

Also, any other tips for a new Mac user to keep the machine running fast :)

Thanks :D

You can go into Activity Monitor and see what tasks are using CPU. If the machine is getting hot, something is busy. Spotlight indexing tasks have a user of _Spotlight.
