Hi guys!

I'm going to buy a mid 2014 MBPr 13" as my main computer for:

  • Pages
  • Surfing/mail
  • Storing images/videos
  • Maybe Bootcamp for 1-2 games on Steam

My questions are these:

  1. Since I take a bunch of pictures and videoes - approximately 120GB the last couple of years - does it even matter if I choose 512GB/256GB SSD instead of 128GB? Either way I'm pretty soon going to run out of space anyway, so why pay extra for 512GB/256GB? 128GB should be more than enough for Pages and Bootcamp, right? Doesn't it make more sense to go for 128GB and an external storage solution right from the start? Or am I missing something that requires more breathing room than 128GB?
  • If you agree that 128GB and external storage is best in my situation, which would you recommend? Speed is most important to me, and the ability to access the files from anywhere preferably without bringing the drive. Safety is also important. I will use it to store all the images/videos and also use it as backup for documents.
Time Capsule seems cool, but also very very slow, and maybe also quite noisy. And maybe the drive becomes defect and the files are lost. Similar considerations with other external drives.
Dropbox/Google Drive is also an option, and maybe a safer choice, but I'd rather pay once for a drive, if it's pretty much just as safe, instead of paying every month 'forever'.

Hope you can help me choose a way to go. I'm a bit confused right now over all these storage options. Internal, external, SATA, SSD, cloud ...! :)
