I have a late '07 15" 2.4ghz MBP, 4GB RAM. Currently still on 10.4.11 but will be upgrading that soon I imagine. I use the rig mainly for Logic, and use many hungry 3rd party gizmos(Waves, URS, Spectrasonics, NI, Max/MSP, and so on . . .) This current MBP significantly outperforms it's predecessor, my PPC G5, 2.0ghz, 4GB RAM.
My question is, I'm considering getting another machine, prolly SHOULD get a MacPro for bang-for-buck power for my home studio, but really want a new MBP--I've become hooked on being laptop-based. I love the mobility.
So, a new 3.0ghz MBP with 8GB RAM sure sounds appealing, but I wonder, just how much of a performance boost would I achieve with that over my current MBP? I could expect some, no? Just curious if anybody else has a MBP in that configuration, and how it performs for them. Thanks.

I'll suggest you keep the MBP and get a mac pro.

So i have something mobile and as well as a powerhouse.

You'll probably see at least a 25% speed boost with SL, the faster bus speeds and all.
