I purchased a sealed in plastic brand new 2016 MBP 15" on Saturday ($500 discount over the current generation) from Micro Center Dallas. I am constantly receiving notifications for adding a device profile from 'MKTG'. I have no idea what MKTG is, and even after formatting the HD and re-installing OS X High Sierra I continue to receive these notifications. I have never loaded a profile onto my mac laptop and have no idea what this company MKTG is. The only sort of 'account' I have on my macs is an iCloud account, which is also on 2 other macs that don't receive any profile notifications.

What could be causing these notifications?

Is the device serial number registered with a company called MKTG on an Apple server for pushing device profiles? Is there tampering with the boot firmware that is causing this? Seems so strange.

The only applications I had installed was brew + GNU utils, Xcode, my iCloud account signed in, and Age of Mythology. The same apps are installed on my other 2 macs and dont cause any notifications.

I cant imagine the MBP has been tampered with before sale because it was sold by a reputable business and was sealed in plastic.

Most likely you were sold a used MBP a "new". "Sealed in plastic" is only an indication that the seller has a shrink-wrapping machine. "Reputable Dealer" can be anything. I would return it to the seller.
