Ok, tried searching but didn't see anyone else posting a similar issue. Here's my disclaimer...I may be missing something simple.

But, just hooked up my new MBP using this cable I got from monoprice today. The picture on the LCD TV is much darker than what the VGA connection was. I've messed with the TV's picture settings, and nothing seems to work. Everything is just much darker. I tried playing a movie from iTunes, same thing, everything is wicked dark. Not sure what to do here, maybe it's the cable?
 
well, vga colors tend to be slightly washed out, and that is what you may be used to....


just how dark is the picture? is it so dark that you can not make out text?
What is the resolution of your external display? is it running at max resolution?
