Hello,

I'm trying to figure out what my best setup might be. I'm ditching my present ISP and will need a modem etc. for my new ISP.

Here's the scoop... I have a 12"powerbook 1.5 running 10.4.11 that I'm quite happy with and am not planning on getting rid of any time soon. I, alone, download on average a mere 20 GB per month and upload about 6GB/ month, am not a gamer but watch a few shows online once in awhile, other than that I browse and email. My roommate has a pc. I live in an older building that's 900 square feet with plaster walls and the router will need to go through at least two.I'm not rich, but would like to get a new router since I'm getting a new modem, and thought it would be a good time to get an external drive for back-ups - may be something two in one??? They ask for the modem to be G.DMT and must be PPPoE configurable.

Since I can only use g and not n, should I bother with the 802.11n? Would the Express be powerful enough? What about an older extreme base station - is it true it doesn't stream video??? (I have a chance to get one for $50), or would I need the newer AEBS? Perhaps a two in one modem/ router like the speedtouch 585? Time capsule seems a little too expensive for my needs. I won't be using Time Machine anytime soon, and being on a notebook, timed back-ups won't be happening. I suspect a separate external HD would be the way to go for me, I think.... but I don't really know and that's why I'm here.

Any suggestions?????

Thanks!
