New Momentus XT hdd and 2009 24" iMac?

My hard drive is failing in my 2009 24" iMac and I just read about Seagate's new hybrid HDD/SSD drive, the Momentus XT. There is video of this in a MacBook Pro and it rivals Sdd performance. Can anyone think of why this would not be a good replacement drive (technically, speaking, at least)? Would I have any problems installing and using this (more heat, driver issues)?

Yes, from 2009 to the current machines Apple began using hard drives that had internal circuitry that had temp sensors. AFAIK no 3rd party HD's have this circuitry. The Momentus should install OK but it will results in very high fan speeds unless you short circuit the wiring or come up with some other hack. I'd recommend speaking to an AASP prior to installing the drive and getting a professional's opinion prior to starting.

Do you know what the model ID is (i.e., shipped during when in 2009) because I just read that this started in "late" 2009 and I bought mine in April of 2009.

I believe it's only the 21.5" and 27" models, not the 20" or 24".
