Wondering if it has anything to do with another glossy screen? Too much distraction?

I had a 19.5 Sanyo TV hooked up before that I used periodically, that was more of a matte finish and it never bothered me.

So I have a 21.5" iMac and have never had a problem.

Decided to get another monitor to help with the workflow. After about 15 minutes, my eyes were hurting. Been playing with the settings all day and nothing is helping.

Acer 23' IPS

Any suggestions?

Acer uses poor quality parts on their products. I recommend displays by LG, NEC, Samsung, or another brand. I'd return it as I get a headache thinking about the name Acer (which I do not pronounce with the letter "c")

Took your advice, returned it. Got an Asus. It was with a matte finish. Same problem. After a little research I'm guessing it's a backlighting sensitivity? Don't know why I don't struggle with it on my iMac?

Eyes can be tricky things. When I was having issues with sensitivity, I could use LCD monitors with LED backlighting but I couldn't use anything with CCFL backlighting. I'm not really sure what changed, but at some point this was no longer an issue for me.
